Did You Hear About Spotify Stiffing Musicians?
Hey everyone,
While I was folding laundry this morning, I saw something online that just didn't sit right with me. Apparently, Spotify is making some changes to how they pay musicians, and let's just say, it's not exactly good news for the artists we love.
From what I gathered, Spotify might be putting in a new rule where they only pay musicians if their songs get streamed a certain number of times. This means smaller artists, or those just starting out, could get shut out completely!
Now, I don't know about you, but I love discovering new music. It would be a shame if these up-and-coming artists don't get a fair shot because some big company doesn't think their music is "popular" enough.
There's a YouTube video by a music lawyer that explains this whole situation in more detail. It's called "UPDATE | Spotify Is TAKING Your Royalties | Music Lawyer Explains Policy Changes by Top Music Attorney" [YouTube video by Top Music Attorney]. Checking out if you want the full scoop.
The whole thing just feels wrong, you know? Musicians put their heart and soul into their work, and they deserve to be compensated for it.
What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments if you've heard about this, and if there's anything we can do to support our favorite artists!
Love,
Your Laundry-Folding News Reporter
